Why most membership options are not very good and why you should avoid them?
Keeping a membership service running smoothly and your customers happy is easier said than done.
In fact almost 98 percent of all membership services fail due to lack of content, retention is the issue and few if any memberships even try to keep their members.
The idea here is to provide a user experience that is so good and so full of options that the user wants to retain the membership option.
Running a membership website with thousands and thousands of members subscribed requires a strategy that will keep them subscribed, because one of the fastest things, is no matter what you do eventually what happens is that you end up loosing most if not all of your subscribers.
keeping the website up and running does not simply start with finding people online and convincing them to join, it requires a lot of preparation along with getting them sign-up and keeping them as members.
It does not simply end there either as people have the tendency to forget about their commitments and their connection with online membership websites, often they cancel this can happen more often when the membership website is not often updated with new content as is the practice.
There are a lot of different types of membership website solutions, from wordpress plug-ins to free standing scripts.
There are usually different types of memberships for different needs.
There is the standard type which is best for small and starting membership sites. There is also the professional version which will fit larger membership sites. Your choice would depend primarily on your need so select wisely to avoid wasting your effort and money.
Membership software will also let you create default e-mail content which is typically used to send to all members in keeping them constantly in touch with their subscription.
So how do you get this right because from this perspective, it is really tough to keep subscribers coming back for more over time.
One method which is probably one of the best is to prepare content six months to one year in advance, in fact we evaluated a six week membership service, which produced video and transcripts supporting a programming environment.
We found that once per week the membership service would send out an email containing links to download the latest content.
It was informative and a very good value, however, after the initial six weeks, membership retention fell once again.
This scenario, can be demonstrated over and over again in test case after test case, even the high dollar Guru Garbage, allegedly stomper net, was allegedly included in this type of retention problem and diagnosis, even when massive amounts of money was thrown at the problem the same issue applied.
Over time we find that this case applies, even in high value, large dollar purchases, where the value is extended, the same principal applies.
