Mobile Media for Mobile Marketing

The other day I was at Walmart and I noticed something that was a little surprising, everyone was texting, texting here texting there, texting everywhere.

So is it really, the trend of the future.

In fact, there were people trying to drive their buggies around and almost running into other people, mostly because they were not paying attention to what they were doing, they were in some cases stopped in the middle of the isle and people on both sides of them were waiting to get by, finally someone had to say excuse me but you need to move out of the way, they looked up as if in a daze and was embarrassed, (as they should have been) and moved out of the way, but can you imagine trying to drive down the road, wow is all I can say.

These days just about everyone is busy texting, even while they should be driving down the road.

Getting your media act together, what you can do to ensure your success in marketing for mobile media.

There are discussions going on right now among developers about the mobile revolution, in fact it appears at least for now that mobile communications, are in fact more prevalent, than its stationary counterpart.

So with that piece of info in mind…

What will the next big thing be?

Will it be html5?  probably not.

Is this the next generation of the media, will people get their news from mobile sources rather than stationary sources like the TV, are we looking at a brave new world?

What is the number one, most used media form for mobile media?  is is Video? or is it Audio?

You might be surprised to learn that it is in fact, Audio…

Video and Audio for the on the go crowd, is very popular, but what does  this mean to you?

Mobile content, is it the hottest new trend?

Some say yes and they are working hard to get content that is both fresh and friendly to as many devices as possible.

The iPad is one of the fastest growing user groups in history, with a rumored, 3.9 million sold and counting, the number of iPad users is growing faster than they can make them.

In fact, there is an entire industry dedicated to breaking into these devices, mostly I think to thwart, Steve Jobs, because of all the really great apps that have not been approved.

Because of one thing or another, sometimes it is because of political reasons.

Other times it is for some other reason, which no one knows, so in reality the apple Steve jobs thing is just sort of back fired on little Steve, I say little because he is acting like a child.

And his company will pay the price, so who will develop the next great device that is not tied down by jobs over reaching and perhaps even illegal activity to censor developers.

You have to wonder, there are some great apps out there, but many of them are not approved by apple so if you want a good app in the future you may not be looking at the app store at all you might be looking at breaking or jailbreaking your device.

Many say that nearly 50 percent have already done it, and more plan on doing it, but it really creates the question why do it, at all?

Well for one thing, Apple is not allowing very many apps to be approved, and the changes that they have made are not popular, banning flash, banning all other languages, except obj c, banning any api that is not apple approved, banning this, banning that…

The result is that you have a banned iPad.

So if you really want to see what is going on in the real world, dont look for apps in the app store because there are few that are actually developed for the iPad.

I know they say that there are thousands, but that is not true allegedly there are fewer than 2500.

Why is that? Well for one thing, many thousands of developers have quit Apple, after the over reaching and perhaps even allegedly illegal, terms and conditions of development, many thousands of developers have the feeling that they have been insulted and beaten by Apple the big bully on the block.

All because of an Adobe and Apple war, in fact one such group called, RunRev.com was damaged so badly that they may not survive.

Because they put their faith in Apple, and they lost millions of dollars, they lost.

So, perhaps they are selling lots of iPads, but if you want the really best apps, you may have to go somewhere else to get them.

The Clash of the computer Titans

Now that Apple may in fact be in decline will Microsoft will the final battle of the operating systems.

Today I tried to advertise on the Microsoft advertising network, having had an account for years, it is interesting that now using a MAC I cannot connect to the MAA, center, because of a software glitch, odd, that they have some kind of alleged, 32 bit requirement, when I tried to use a 64 bit browser, I could not get it to work, Safari, wont work, Google Crome wont work, so why is this, and more importantly when a business allows their ego to get in the way of their business ethics, (allegedly) how can they ever expect to win?

The war continues, questions arise about who will eventually win.

The traditional War, between Apple and Windoze, has been a long and frightfully fought battle and it is not over by any means, however, Apple has moved upward in this clash of the Titans, with innovative products that seem to work better than the Microsoft alternatives, Apple has steadily moved ahead in this race, however, if they are not careful there could be sarpents in the future if Apple is not careful in its treatment of developers and consumers alike.

Apple has gained a lot of ground not because of new technology but because of technology that is steady, it works, and they are always trying to make it better, is it perfect? Well of course not, but it is something that you can rely on.

In the mobile market Apple just has an edge both in technology and in service.

The products they produce just work and that is something that you just cannot say for the competition.

Competition is a good thing, it brings new products to the market and it also allows diversification to deliver new technology.

Distribution of apps

Will apple change its way to doing business to be a more modern and more acceptably competitive model.

In a move that might go a long way toward equalizing the past mistakes apple has made.

Will Apple figure it out in time or will they continue to deny what their competitors are providing to consumers, when consumers said they want flash, they get it, (but not at Apple, why is that?)

I love Apple products but for the last two years, things have begun to change and it is not really good changes, when you look at what is going on in the marketplace and the economy this is not a time to force your antiquated views on the consumer.

Amazon has announced support for an app store, for Andriod, this is not a good thing for apple when will apple learn to loosen up the strict draconian environment that is ruining the apple platform.

Eventually there will be a better distribution channel for apps that run on the ipad and the iphone.

As the market continues to change, the mechanism should adapt to the market, not the market to the mechanism, perhaps apple can find a way to make this work better.

Will Apple adapt to the changing distribution market?

Finding a better way to distribute your apple ipad apps may be what many developers are looking to do.

With the most recent of Apple mistakes hiting the market, some people have activly begun to look for alternate systems of distribution.

Are you searching for an alternative to the app store because you want to distribute an ipad app but cant get apple to even look at you because your allegedly just a small business?

Alternative to the app store, is one of the most searched for things online, by small business and many developers.

If Apple is really as good as they think that they are can they not figure out a way to satisfy the customer base?

With thousands of small business owners who would like to have an ipad or iphone app there would appear to be no real distribution point, this seems like not only an oversight but something that apple has just well plain decided to not address.

Statics are revealing that some 30 to 45 percent of users are jail breaking their devices.

Which would seem to indicate that there is some issue about the apple process of approving and distributing of apps that well is just not meeting the need of not only the development community but also the users themselves.

Now add into the mix small business owners, who would like to be able to provide a method of distributing a small town app for small town business owners, and you have a problem that apple is not prepared to deal with.

An entire market segment has been left out of the equation for apple that seems a little dumb because they are known for their planning but you have to ask is this an oversight? Or is it just something that is just not worth the time for apple to develop a strategy to address the needs of millions of potential customers.

One thing for sure, if apple does not do this someone else will come along and they will do it.

Cydia for one thing is actively defying Apple in fact they plan on competing with the new planned MAC OSX app store that apple plans on unveiling in the new year.

Which will likely provide even more grist for the mill for many developers and small business owners.

It seems as if Apple is intentionally trying to well Piss people off, we have to wonder why that is happening because normally a company tries to keep its customers happy not make them angry enough to jail break a device.

What may happen next is anyone’s guess but one thing for sure is that if you are not prepared to enter the jail broken app market and you are a small business chances are great that apple is not looking out for you or your business.

Andriod tablets

More popular than Apples ipad…

Better able to create more fun for everyone that uses it.

Able to run Flash…

perhaps but how do you iknow, what itablet to ipick, sorry, but you just never know who to believe.

When you look at advertising budgets, you have to ask is it hype or is it real?

will apple make it or will android make it better.

Android vs Apple who will win, some say Android simply because they are not restricting the hardware and many developers say they like it much better than the apple nanny that tells you how and what you can do with your own money.

Apple may have been the first to step up to the plate however, many are beginning to wonder about the alleged, overly restrictive hardware that apple continues to trot out for the sheeple to consume.

And so comes Android, and it has become very popular among developers as well as users.

Why is this?  Simple, devices such as the samsung Galaxy, 10.1 has an SD card slot, it can view flash, it can do just about anything that you want it to do.

This leaves a consumer wondering why Apple continues down this draconian, path way where they seem to want to tell you how you can use your own purchases, no SD card slot, No USB access, No additional memory, slot, (even cheap cell phones have this now) What is Apple thinking, how long will the sheeple continue to buy the junk apple is selling?

Andriod seems in a good position to lead the way, in this very lucrative, market.

iOS will it be the wave of the future or the past?

will Apple learn that in the day of this modern age, people have the right to do what they want to do, when you try to artifically restrict people to making them do what they do not want to do, then you have this…

Update, with the new Amazon App store for Andriod, could apple be facing the result of a lot of very bad business decisions?

I am attempting to decide if I want to renew membership in the iOS program mostly for two reasons, my clients are not served well by the current distribution method that apparently Apple has chosen to pursue.

The second reason is that the small business market is under served by the approval process.

I find both of these reasons to be disturbing and I would welcome the opportunity to relate to Apple that this does not have to be this way and that Apple by its chosen model of distribution is leaving a huge amount of money just sitting at the table.

For example, lets take mom and pops pizza in a mid western town of 85.000 people, 30 thousand of which use SMS and other methods of communication on smart devices, if mom and pop want an ipad app or an iphone app about their nice pizza and other special offers they might want to allow their customers to place an order through an app, how easy could that be, you get on your iphone and zap a hot pizza shows up at your door, I know I want one now.

But sadly, unless mom and pop are a larger corporation it seems that they have little chance of being approved at the Apple app store, and thus they are limited in how they can achieve their goals of growing as a business.

So what do mom and pop do?

Well they are moving toward Android, and yes I know its a bad word here, but lets have a look at it, anyway, because if we are to be grown up about business then this must be a part of the discussion, many small business owners are moving toward Android because developers are moving over to that platform simply because the market is not being served adequately by Apple.

There is a real opportunity to serve the mom and pop business ventures out there simply by adding a few categories to the App store you could provide mom and pop with a great method of distribution and attract additional developers to the platform, but so far that is not what is happening.

The developers I know are abandoning iOS in favor of platforms that are favorable to the developers clients, that is a problem and I am wondering if Apple is even aware of this problem, that is why I really do not know if I will renew, because, so far, what I see is a lot of questionable apps and a huge list of things you cant do with Apple, will things change?

Because if they do not I fear for the popularity of this platform.
